study, study, study...

Well friends... this is the calm before the storm. I'm waiting for my phone to charge (gotta love BlackBerry's and their batteries that hold a charge forever... SIKE) and then I'm going to the Willy T. (the library) for what seems like forever. I have a pretty big Political Science test tomorrow and I'm studying alllllllllllllll day for it. Probably 2:45 p.m. till 1 or 2 a.m., if not later. Then waking up at 6 and studying for it until Political Science starts at 11. Can't you just hear the excitement in my voice!?!?

I'm going armed with my camera (just incase I decide to take a 5 minute break to take some stupid pictures), a Monster (again, not the creature, but the energy drink (shout out to Andy, who when my sister showed him that previous post, laughed out loud at this) but if I did actually have a Monster I would definitely make it eat my stupid over 50 Political Science teacher, who has a crazy thick accent, wears Abercrombie and Fitch as if hes 18 (holey jeans that show the boxers and all), and goes on 45 minute tangents about the dumbest crap ever, etc.) ). I'm also going armed with a bagel and doritos (fuel food) and a few other things.

Well I'll give ya'll a post soon. Hope your day is filled with funner (its not a word but I like it, so I'm gonna use it anyway) things than sitting in a library for over 10 hours. Wish me luck.

"I could hold you in my arms forever..."

Hey everyone. Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted. I've been pretty busy. I just got back from hanging out with my mom and running around Lexington and shopping. It was so much fun.

This weekend I went back home to Northern Kentucky and slept and relaxed. It was wonderful and exactly what I needed. On Friday night, Dave and I went to the local racetrack and I won $150 bucks! I'm kind of a big deal. It made my weekend. The rest of the weekend was spent laying with my kitty and watching the OC (such a good show!). I wish it could've lasted longer but I had to come back to school.

Last week really wasn't all that exciting. School and work and homework. Oh joy! This week is pretty much the same except add lots and lots and lots of STUDYING. I have 3 tests on Wednesday and which makes me want to punch myself in the face. I will not be doing ANYTHING on Tuesday night except studying. I plan on studying until 3. Going back to my dorm and sleeping. Waking up at 6 and then going to study some more. Doesn't that just sound super fun and exciting?! Hopefully I do good.

After that crap, Thursday I've got class then I'm going back to my dorm and sleeping some more and then later that night I'm going over to my friend Patrick's dorm and watching Grey's Anatomy and Survivor and getting take out. Then Friday morning I leave for Nashville to go see Jessie! Can't wait! It's going to be sooooo much fun! I've missed that girl! Well right now I think I'm going to go lay on my bed, keep drinking my Hawaiian Punch straight from the gallon, read a magazine, and watch some TV while I can. Sorry this is a really random post but I just thought I'd give you an update. Hope you all had a great weekend!

football season, friends, and bad news

Hey everyone! Hope you guys are having a good weekend so far. My weekend is going ok, but there was a bit of a speed bump today (i'll explain later). So today started the football season here in Lexington, with the UK vs. U of L game. My dear friend, Kristin, came into town last night for the game (she goes to U of L but she wore UK stuff so a. she wouldn't get crap all day and b. she actually wanted UK to win). So we woke up this morning had breakfast at McDonalds and then went back to my dorm and hung out until we were going to go tailgating. We went to my friend, Patrick's fraternity and tailgated and it was pretty fun. Here are some pictures:

Me and Kristin

Tailgating with Pat!

Fun! Fun! So at about noon Pat, Kristin, and I decided we wanted to go get Chipotle. We are walking down the street and then the speed bump hits us. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Kristin got a text from a high school friend of ours back in Louisville. A friend of ours, Jacob, was at a bonfire last night and some kid threw gasoline on him. He is now in UK burn center with 2nd degree burns covering 50% of his body. Jacob and I brieftly dated in middle school/high school and had lost touch from our freshman to junior year. But in our senior year we had a class together and we reconnected and became great friends. He is such a good guy, he loves to have a good time, and he has one of the funniest laughs you will ever hear and I love it. This summer, we hung out a few times and we'd always have a great time. Then we said our goodbyes and he went off to Lindsey Wilson College on a wrestling scholarship. Its crazy to think that life can all come crashing down and changed so quickly. I was/still am in shock. Here are a few pictures of me and Jake...

Please please please pray for him. He's a fighter and he will pull through. He's gonna bounce back from this, but right now he really needs our prayers. This is such a tragic accident and I hope it all turns out ok. Please God let him be ok.

Thanks guys. I'll talk to you soon.

Friday:
SLEEP AS LONG AS I WANT
Then go and work at Hands On whenever I get up (I'll explain this job in a sec.)

So yeah. Really busy week. I haven't been getting a lot of sleep and its causing my left eye to twitch and lights to look fuzzy when I look at them. Thankfully I bought a Monster (energy drink... not the creature, although that would be really cool to have a Monster.) or I probably wouldn't have made it. They're delicious and they really do wake you up. I like 'em a whole lot. My mom hates that I drink them. But I'm a college student who doesn't like coffee, what do you expect?

If you're wondering why I'm babysitting so much this week, rather than my regular Monday and Wednesday, it's because I'm babysitting for another wonderful family. They are a super cute family and their kids are ADORABLE. Shan used to babysit for them too and I used to hear about them all the time, now I know why. They were cracking me up today. We had to wait in my car for like 30 minutes and they were bouncing off the walls and climbing all over the seats. I haven't laughed that long in a long time. I babysit for them tomorrow at 5 until their dad gets home and I'm excited for some more fun and laughs. :)

And now to explain Hands On since some of you might not know what I'm talking about. Hands On is a t-shirt company down here in Lexington, where the wonderful Jen (the girl I stayed with in the beginning of the school year) works at. And occasionally, they'll get a big t-shirt order (12,000) and I'll go in and help fold and individually bag each shirt. It's not bad and it's fun and its nice to have more money for all my future fun coming up!

Let me just let you know, if you don't already that is, but I am one of those people who has to constantly have new music on my iPod. No joke. I also go through phases of music too. Last week it was all remixes. I free downloaded a ton of DJ AM & Travis Barker remixes on my iPod and would rock out, loudly, to them everyday going to and from school, in the car, pretty much everywhere. And this week I've hit a dud. But then I remembered one thing. I have Mute Math's new album on my iPod. If you don't already know this I am obsessed and I mean OBSESSED with Mute Math. They are my favorite band ever. They're not very big but trust me they will be one day. My sister and I have loved them since we saw them open up for the Fray a good 2 or 3 years ago. They opened up and as their set ended I was hooked. I ran to the merch booth and bought a Mute Math t-shirt and their CD. If you ever get the chance to see them in concert, do it. They put on the best show I've ever seen and they will go off on a crazy jam session for a good 20 to 30 minutes in the middle of the show and you'll love it. Heres some pictures of them in action:

This is MuteMath in concert. CRAZY right?!

Here's a little close up of Paul (the lead singer) doing his 'piano stands'. He does this quite often during the concert. So fun. Shan and I always get kind of worried that he'll fall from all his sweaty boy-ness and hurt himself but thankfully that hasn't happened.

So to continue the story, Shan and I have been obsessed and have been anxiously waiting for their new CD to come out, I bought it, loved it and can't stop listening to it. Today, while sitting here in my dorm I turned on one of my favorites from the CD. Just for some background music as I chatted on facebook chat. Then I took a listen the the lyrics. Here's a taste:

And it's a painful thought
to try another start
but the odds are
we'll be better off

As a few of you know from a previous post, I've kind of been having a tough time at college. And I just thought I'd share with you a song that WILL get me through it. My sister has been a great shoulder for me these past few weeks and I'm so thankful to her. She told me something I will never forget. (Mind you it is written as if God is talking directly to me)

I know what is best for you. Please trust me in this. You are on my timeline. Not your own. I have an amazing plan for your life. For you to be an amazing woman that runs after my own heart and is filled with the joy that only I can give. But first, I have to mold you. And this is a hard process. It is a long process. But it is necessary and will make you strong. And not strong like the world knows, but a strong heart that is built from me. I am molding you right now.

My beautiful and amazing sister, wrote me this (this is only an 1/8th of it) and it will forever be close to my heart. It came at a dark time and it pulled me out of it. I'm truly blessed to have my sister, there with me through the thick and thin, and who gives me amazing advice like this. Thank you so much best friend. I wouldn't be here without...

YOU

Well that is all for tonight. I'll talk to you guys very soon!

Love,
Morgan

typing, runts, typing, runts...

If you are deeply confused by the title, let me explain. For the past two hours I have been doing nothing but eating runts and typing. I've been at work allllll night writing my first speech for my COM 181 class. It's a speech about me and I am finally done! Now I can devote all my time to eating runts, drinking Gatorade, and watching the VMA's. I'm not gonna lie, the only real reason I decided to tune in tonight was to see them debut the trailer for the movie, New Moon. (If you don't or haven't seen/read the Twilight Saga I suggest you do. And if you're judging me for being 'that girl' and liking it, then go ahead and judge me because I love it and I'm not afraid to admit it!) And let me just say... the new trailer is AMAZING!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that THE Margo Wheatley, applied to college this weekend! I'm so freaking happy that she is following through with her dreams and going back to school! That a way Momma! I'm so proud of you!

Tomorrow, I have to take a test and turn in my speech outline. After school, I'm going to Barnes and Noble and doing a little reading (magazines mostly) and then going to babysit. I'm babysitting pretty much everyday this week. The kids are great and I'm really liking it a lot.

I'm back in Lexington now, starting my next week of college. I have the air conditioner on blast and I'm done with my homework... at least for tonight. Well, other than that, I think that's pretty much it. I'm going to go watch the New Moon trailer for the umpteenth time (Go ahead judge, I dare you! :))

Love,
Morgan

"love is patient. love is kind..."

This weekend has been sooo... extremely relaxing and it is just what I needed! I never imagined how 'on the go' I would be at college! Well on Thursday, I went to class, walked to the hospital to get a shot (yay for not having to worry about dying from meningitis!), and walked back to my dorm then out to dinner with a friend, went home, packed a few things (books for homework, mostly) and headed home. I have been doing nothing other than sleeping and relaxing and I feel SO much better!

Last night, I felt like watching a movie or two. One of those movies happened to be...

I forgot how much I truly LOVE that movie! I watched it twice last night and once this afternoon. You CANNOT beat that movie. I know its kind of cheesy but the love story is truly magical. And it has an amazing bible verse in it...

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

--1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

That verse is soo... beautiful and I just absolutely love that movie!

This week I've slowly started planning my next four weeks ahead and to say the least, I'm EXCITED! Next weekend, UK vs. U of L game. The next weekend, UK vs. Florida game. Then, on October 1st my fall break starts. So on September 31st or October 1st, I'm driving down to Nashville and hanging out with Jess for the weekend. That next weekend, Keeneland opens. And the October 14th, my other best friend (she moved up to Minnesota the day after we graduated from high school) come back down! SOOO freaking excited for that! When she comes down, all of my best friends and I get back together and it's going to be CRAZY and SO MUCH FUN! Looking back at that paragraph and all of my plans makes me really excited and I just can't wait :)

Tomorrow afternoon or night, I'm driving back down to Lexington. Yay! I'm really loving Lexington! Or should I call it Lex- Vegas. haha Well I really can't put off my homework any longer. I have a speech and a paper to write. I'll talk to you guys soon!

Morgan

the beginning of another week

Hey all! I hope you guys had a fun and happy Labor Day weekend. Mine was... lets just say not what I was planning. Don't get me wrong I had fun. But I also had my fair share of drama. But were just not going to talk about that. Friday, I drove my friend, Patrick, back home to Middletown, OH and turned right back around and came home. Saturday, Pat and I went to the UK vs. Miami game, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. It was so fun and it was a perfect way to start off the fall/football season (UK 42 - Miami 0) Even though it was an insanely hot day out we still had a blast.

Me and Patrick at the game

Saturday night, I stayed at home and relaxed, caught up on some sleep, watched some movies and hung out with my cat (can't beat that!). Sunday was a pretty busy day. I woke up at about 2 or 3 (don't judge me, I was tired) and went and picked up my friend Kristin from her house at 6 and then went to dinner and went with some friends to the WEBN Labor Day Fireworks. We were on the Kentucky side, not near the traffic and had a great view. After the fireworks, a few of us went to a friends house in Middletown and hung out. It was so much fun! Here's a few pictures!

Me and Jess at the Fireworks!

Kristin and I

I drove home this morning, a few minutes late to my first class, and now I'm back at my dorm. I'm going to delay doing my homework by blogging. :) Well I don't really have anything planned for this week/weekend. That trip to see my best friend, Jess, this weekend in Nashville has been cancelled (for reasons I care not to discuss) and so now I have to plan something to do.

College is working out good for me but I'm not going to lie, reality is starting to set in. School and all the homework is fine I don't have any problems with that. One problem I am having is in the social life department. Don't get me wrong, I have friends... but they just happen to not live here (Louisville, Minnesota, Nashville, etc.) It just hasn't been the easiest meeting new people, but I'm going to keep trying. I'm not gonna give up now. So for now I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and keep hoping that I meet some new people soon. Well I think thats it for tonight. Have a good night!

Oh and here's a picture of the new picture wall... this thing gets me through the tough days...

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday! Talk to you all soon!

Love,
Morgan

dorm days...

Hey everyone! I finally FINALLY have internet in my dorm room so you'll be getting many more posts! Dorm life is going really well. I'm liking it a lot. Keeneland is one of the nicest and oldest dorms at UK. My roommate, Amie, is a really cool outgoing girl and I like her a lot. Living on my own and coming and going as I please is a definite plus. Also, eating what I want when I want (don't judge me for this Mom!) is quite nice. For example, my first night here in the dorm, Amie (the roommate) and I had a wonderfully nutritious dinner of grapes and m&m's. I guarantee my Mom is going atleast she ate grapes! haha

In other news, I've slowly been decorating my room and we keep trying to hang up our cork boards with duct tape (you're not allowed to nail anything to the walls) but every night while were asleep they fall down, so we've given up hope. This is what my dorm looks like...

This is the little shelf area above our drawers where we keep anything and everything. Especially food.

This is the roommate, Amie, on her side of the room. Note the Jimi Hendrix poster. Hell yes. Another plus, while I was moving in she was playing Bob Marley. Can't beat that!

This is my little desk area next to my closet. It's a little messy because I'm still hanging up pictures. I'm pretty much done... just waiting for the other 50 I ordered from Kodak to come in the mail. :)

This would be my bed (and the new backpack on the floor). Now, you might be thinking, 'why did she pick out such a plain bedspread?" Well, here in Keeneland, because were so old, we DON'T have air conditioning so I haven't put on my bed spread yet... until winter it's gonna stay up here...

...in my closet. It's actually pretty nice and decent sized and it holds all of my stuff.

This is the essential area of our dorm (besides the food). We don't really have any drinks in the fridge yet besides Monster, some Jello, Juicey Juice, and water. But come next week when my parents buy me some Cheerwine, that'll all change. And if you don't know what Cheerwine is and you're thinking its got alcohol in it... you're wrong. It's pretty much the BEST cherry coke from South Carolina.

And this is the outside of my dorm...

It's sooo nice. Sorry about the small picture. I got this from the UK website because a. I don't feel like walking outside and taking one for myself (which I will do at some point) and b. I'm really comfortable and don't feel like getting up :)

There is another downside to living on north campus though... all my classes are on south campus. And when I say south campus I mean like a mile and a half away. So I've been taking the UK bus service to and from class everyday and its working out quite nice for me. I probably will walk back occasionally in the fall when its nice and cool out but not when its hot like its been here.

College life has been going good. I had my first two college tests today and I'm pretty sure I rocked them both. I studied for like 5 or 6 hours last night so I think that paid off. I just got inside from smoking hookah with some friends (UK isn't smoke free yet until November) and going to dinner with Patrick at one of the on-campus cafeteria's. They're not that bad at all. Really good food and goooddd ice cream.

On friday, I'm going back home to hang out with the parents and.... JESSIE! I finally get to see her! Even though we've only been away from each other for 2 weeks it feels like a loooonnnggg time. And seeing as how it's labor day weekend, I don't have school on Monday so I'll be staying in Northern until Tuesday morning. But right now I think I'm going to go eat some jello and watch some TV and relax because I don't have any homework. :) I'll talk to you guys soon!

Love,
Morgan
